A rainwater harvesting system: a volunteer-led effort in Asaba
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a rainwater harvesting system - we need $400 for materials.
Anywhere in the world1,345 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 15 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Sycamore Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $400.
It will serve about 145 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $400 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $50
• Safety equipment and signage: $35
• Materials: $315
Every share and every dollar helps.

Wishing you the best, Grace. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My brother had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Thinking of Asaba.
