A prosthetic leg for Angelica: help me move freely
Angelica needs a prosthetic leg that the health system won't fund; the cost is $4,650.
🇺🇸 California, United States1,491 views
I live with low vision from retinitis pigmentosa. My occupational therapist at the Fresno Rehabilitation Centre has assessed me and recommended a prosthetic leg. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $4,650.
My current equipment is 8 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 12 weeks.
With the right equipment I could go to school independently. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered.
Where the $4,650 goes:
• prosthetic leg: $4,100
• Fitting and training sessions: $195
• Delivery and set-up: $190
• First-year servicing plan: $165
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.
