A powered wheelchair for Jose: help me move freely
Jose needs a powered wheelchair that the health system won't fund; the cost is $6,100.

I live with low vision from retinitis pigmentosa. My occupational therapist at the San Francisco Rehabilitation Centre has assessed me and recommended a powered wheelchair. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $6,100.
My current equipment is 15 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 10 weeks.
With the right equipment I could go outside without waiting for someone to push. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $6,100 goes:
• powered wheelchair: $5,500
• Fitting and training sessions: $220
• Delivery and set-up: $200
• First-year servicing plan: $180
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

keep going. Hope you get there. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Greetings from Guadalupe.
praying for you, Jose. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. All the best.
Sending love, Jose. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. God bless.
