My mother Nafula has been accepted for treatment at Kisumu Transplant Centre in Kisumu, starting on Tuesday in October. We live 163 km away in a town in the north, and hotel costs would use up what we have set aside for the treatment itself. We're looking for a room, granny flat or short-term rental within about 30 minutes of the hospital, for 5 weeks. Two of us would stay: Nafula and me. We can contribute $15 a week and cook for the household if you'd like. Nafula will have some immune precautions, so a clean, smoke-free place would be ideal. A kitchen is a bonus. Thank you. You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

  • Hope it all works out. Hope you get there. It's not much but it's yours. Love from La Plata.

    • look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Thinking of Kisumu.

      • Hang in there. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Blessings.

        • Hang in there, Achieng. This could happen to any of us. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Take care.
