My family left Eritrea 6 months ago after we were targeted for our work. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Swansea. We're a family of five and we're safe, but we arrived with very little.
Our resettlement agency has provided 2 months of rent, and that support ends in June.
I was an engineer in Eritrea, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well.
We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months.
Funds are managed by the Swansea Refugee Support Network, a registered organization, which pays the landlord and suppliers on the family's behalf.
Where the $3,050 goes:
• Rent deposit and first month: $1,500
• Beds, table and basic furniture: $610
• Winter clothing and school supplies: $320
• Language classes and bus passes: $380
• Phone and internet for school and job search: $240

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. rent deposit and first month comes first ($1,500) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Happy to explain more.
