A fresh start in San Francisco: help the Abdi family resettle
Help a family of 4 start their new life in San Francisco: furniture, rent deposit and language classes.
🇺🇸 California, United States250 views
My family left Ukraine 7 months ago after the war reached our town. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in San Francisco. We're a family of five and we're safe, but we arrived with very little.
Our resettlement agency has provided 2 months of rent, and that support ends in November.
I was a pharmacist in Ukraine, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well.
We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months.
All purchases will be documented and photos shared (with the family's consent).
Where the $4,100 goes:
• Rent deposit and first month: $1,800
• Winter clothing and school supplies: $460
• Language classes and bus passes: $470
• Beds, table and basic furniture: $1,370
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Good luck. Gave what I could, wish it was more. I went through something like this 9 years ago and strangers helped me out.
Thanks for sharing this, Valentina. I hope things turn around soon. We're a small family in Sacramento but we're thinking of you.
Sending strength, Valentina. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. God bless.
This could happen to any of us. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Thinking of San Francisco.
Hang in there, Valentina. Shared it with a few friends. Greetings from Toulon.
