A fresh start in Embakasi: help the Yusuf family resettle
After fleeing Iraq, the Yusuf family has arrived in Embakasi with little more than their documents. They need help with a deposit, furniture and the first months.

My family left Iraq 6 months ago after we were targeted for our work. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Embakasi. We're a family of six and we're safe, but we arrived with very little.
Our resettlement agency has provided 4 months of rent, and that support ends in February.
I was a teacher in Iraq, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well.
We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months.
All purchases will be documented and photos shared (with the family's consent).
Where the $500 goes:
• Rent deposit and first month: $250
• Winter clothing and school supplies: $150
• Language classes and bus passes: $40
• Phone and internet for school and job search: $60
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Hang in there, Njoroge. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My husband and I read this together. All the best.
I hope things turn around soon. After 10 years in accounting I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Greetings from Santos.
Good luck, Njoroge. It takes guts to ask. Well done. I'm in construction myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Take care
Thinking of you, Njoroge. It takes guts to ask. Well done. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. All the best
Thinking of you and your family. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Sent it to 14 people at work. All the best
