Mbale
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 23 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Freedom community hall, but no funding. We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $50. It will serve about 289 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in April and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $50 goes: • Permits and inspections: $15 • Safety equipment and signage: $30 • Tools hire and delivery: $5 Thank you so much. - Karanja

keep going. I hope things turn around soon. I went through something like this 8 years ago and strangers helped me out. Blessings.

hope things get better soon, Karanja. Gave what I could, wish it was more. We're a small family in Oaxaca de Juárez but we're thinking of you

Thinking of you. This could happen to any of us. Put this on a community board in Dundee this morning. Thinking of Mbale.

Rooting for you, Karanja. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Blessings.
