A free library and reading room for the Baobab vacant lot: help our neighbors in Tel Aviv
A community-led a free library and reading room at the Baobab vacant lot that will serve 427 neighbors.

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 24 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Baobab vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $2,400.
It will serve about 427 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,400 goes:
• Materials: $1,750
• Permits and inspections: $155
• Safety equipment and signage: $135
• Tools hire and delivery: $360
Thank you so much.

Hope it all works out, Ido. I hope things turn around soon. I went through something like this 9 years ago and strangers helped me out. Greetings from El Paso.
Sending love, Ido. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money.
