A free library and reading room for Pioneer Primary School: help our neighbors in San Francisco
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a free library and reading room - we need $4,000 for materials.
Anywhere in the world1,186 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 18 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Pioneer Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $4,000.
It will serve about 180 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in March and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $4,000 goes:
• Materials: $3,200
• Permits and inspections: $120
• Safety equipment and signage: $310
• Tools hire and delivery: $370
Glad we found this place.
