A free library and reading room: a volunteer-led effort in Mardan
Volunteers in Mardan are raising $350 for a free library and reading room at Unity Primary School.

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 26 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Unity Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $350.
It will serve about 480 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $350 goes:
• Materials: $250
• Permits and inspections: $25
• Safety equipment and signage: $55
• Tools hire and delivery: $20
I hope life is good to you.

Praying for you. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I'm in hospitality myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you.
take care. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Love from Odesa
Hang in there, Nimra. This could happen to any of us. We're a small family in Pune but we're thinking of you.
Shared it with a few friends. Thinking of Mardan.
Thinking of you and your family, Nimra. More neighborhoods should do this.
