A free library and reading room: a volunteer-led effort in London
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a free library and reading room - we need $600 for materials.

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 15 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Freedom bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $600.
It will serve about 497 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $600 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $310
• Safety equipment and signage: $105
• Tools hire and delivery: $185
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
