For five years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 15 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Harmony Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $1,900.
It will serve about 533 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in July and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,900 goes:
• Materials: $900
• Permits and inspections: $350
• Safety equipment and signage: $490
• Tools hire and delivery: $160
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.
