Basil was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor in November. The surgeon at Kingston Regional Medical Center recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and He is scheduled for February. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,750, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $1,400 short. my son has been in and out of Kingston Regional Medical Center since November. The doctors say a benign brain tumor will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,750 is more than we can find. While we wait, Basil struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Basil won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing.       Pre-operative tests and imaging is $170 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Fair thing to want to know.
