A covered market stall space: a volunteer-led effort in Swansea
A community-led a covered market stall space at Freedom Primary School that will serve 123 neighbors.
🇬🇧 Swansea, Wales, United Kingdom968 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a covered market stall space. This year a group of 17 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Freedom Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $1,700.
It will serve about 123 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $1,700 goes:
• Safety equipment and signage: $270
• Materials: $1,150
• Tools hire and delivery: $280
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Sending love. Great idea, hope you get there. I'm in engineering myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you!
You're not alone, Victoria. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Love from Aurora.
