A covered market stall space: a volunteer-led effort in San Jose
Volunteers in San Jose are raising $2,100 for a covered market stall space at the Liberty health centre yard.
🇺🇸 San Jose, California, United States1,986 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a covered market stall space. This year a group of 29 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Liberty health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $2,100.
It will serve about 330 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in January and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $2,100 goes:
• Materials: $1,600
• Tools hire and delivery: $370
• Safety equipment and signage: $130
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
