A covered market stall space: a volunteer-led effort in Karlsruhe

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a covered market stall space. This year a group of 23 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Cedar community hall, but no funding. We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $650. It will serve about 424 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in May and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $650 goes: • Permits and inspections: $350 • Safety equipment and signage: $110 • Tools hire and delivery: $190 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.
