A covered market stall space: a volunteer-led effort in Hamilton
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a covered market stall space - we need $2,700 for materials.
Anywhere in the world1,655 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a covered market stall space. This year a group of 11 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Freedom vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $2,700.
It will serve about 230 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,700 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $520
• Safety equipment and signage: $390
• Materials: $1,790
