A community garden for Pioneer Park: help our neighbors in Laredo
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a community garden - we need $2,650 for materials.
🇺🇸 Laredo, Texas, United States3,375 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 27 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Pioneer Park, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $2,650.
It will serve about 548 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $2,650 goes:
• Materials: $1,850
• Permits and inspections: $115
• Safety equipment and signage: $420
• Tools hire and delivery: $265
Every share and every dollar helps.

Thinking of you, Matthew. This could happen to any of us. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
