Justice shouldn't depend on a bank balance: Pankaj's asylum application
Help Pankaj cover the fees of an asylum application so He can stay with his family.
🇮🇳 India432 views
I'm facing an asylum application. My hearing is scheduled for June, and the filing fees and the lawyer's retainer come to $105. I have been told by three legal-aid offices that their waiting list is longer than my deadline.
I have all of my paperwork ready, and my caseworker at Mumbai Welcome Centre has confirmed that my case is valid.
If I miss the deadline I could lose my right to stay with my family and my job. My children were born here and this is the only home they know.
I'll share any non-sensitive updates as the case moves along.
The money goes to the immigration attorney's trust account and the court filing office. I'll upload receipts with sensitive details removed.
Where the $105 goes:
• Filing and biometrics fees: $60
• Certified translations and document copies: $40
• Court-appointed interpreter and travel: $5
If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people.

what's already covered and what's the $105 for?
Filing and biometrics fees is $60 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. It helps to be asked.
gave what I could, wish it was more. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Thinking of Mumbai.
Is there anything that isn't money that would help Pankaj?
Sharing the link is the biggest thing. And if you know anything about filing and biometrics fees, advice is welcome too. I'll keep the page updated.
Rooting for you. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Love from Melbourne.
