Epe
Since 2021, our volunteer team has run Bread & Beans Kitchen every Sunday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 11 families, and now we feed 323 each week. Donations have dropped by about 59% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 15 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Epe market and keep every receipt. Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week. I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday. Where the $350 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $165 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $75 • Baby formula and diapers: $95 • Refrigeration and electricity: $15 Thanks for being kind about this. - Kayode

You're not alone, Kayode. Hope this works out for you. Wish I lived closer to Los Angeles so I could bring a meal

          • Stay strong, Kayode. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money.

Stay strong, Kayode. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I hope July is when things finally get easier. Thinking of Epe.
