A community garden: a volunteer-led effort in Tarragona
Volunteers in Tarragona are raising $2,250 for a community garden at Pioneer Park.
🇪🇸 Tarragona, Catalonia, Spain2,489 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 14 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Pioneer Park, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $370, and the remaining cost is $2,250.
It will serve about 447 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in June and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,250 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $115
• Materials: $1,900
• Safety equipment and signage: $235
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

I hope things turn around soon. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Love from Embakasi.
Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Thinking of Tarragona
good luck, Ignacio. This could happen to any of us. It's not much but it's yours. Blessings.
Sending love, Ignacio. Hope you get there. Take care.
Rooting for you, Ignacio. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Take care
