For three years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 19 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Pioneer vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $450. It will serve about 106 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in February and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $450 goes: • Tools hire and delivery: $60 • Materials: $350 • Permits and inspections: $40 Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure. - Jay

  • Sending good thoughts, Jay. More neighborhoods should do this. Blessings.

    • Good luck, Jay. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. We're a small family in Thrissur but we're thinking of you.

      • Rooting for you. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like
