A community fridge: a volunteer-led effort in Tampa
Volunteers in Tampa are raising $4,100 for a community fridge at the Maple health centre yard.
🇺🇸 Florida, United States1,105 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 13 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Maple health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $4,100.
It will serve about 388 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $4,100 goes:
• Materials: $3,100
• Permits and inspections: $280
• Safety equipment and signage: $420
• Tools hire and delivery: $300
Every share and every dollar helps.

Hope things get better soon, Rafael. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Greetings from Novosibirsk.
Rooting for you. Gave what I could, wish it was more. My cousin had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Blessings.
