For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 22 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Sycamore health centre yard, but no funding. We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $1,700. It will serve about 320 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $1,700 goes: • Materials: $920 • Permits and inspections: $180 • Safety equipment and signage: $260 • Tools hire and delivery: $340 Glad we found this place.
