A community fridge: a volunteer-led effort in Port Harcourt
A community-led a community fridge at the Union community hall that will serve 370 neighbors.
🇳🇬 Nigeria618 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 27 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Union community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $250.
It will serve about 370 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $250 goes:
• Materials: $140
• Permits and inspections: $45
• Safety equipment and signage: $35
• Tools hire and delivery: $30
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

Thinking of you, Chukwuemeka. It takes guts to ask. Well done. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Blessings
Thinking of you and your family, Chukwuemeka. Shared it with a few friends. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. God bless.
Take care, Chukwuemeka. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. God bless!
