A community fridge: a volunteer-led effort in București
Volunteers in București are raising $1,550 for a community fridge at the old Harmony bus depot.

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 29 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Harmony bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $1,550.
It will serve about 120 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $1,550 goes:
• Materials: $1,200
• Permits and inspections: $75
• Safety equipment and signage: $185
• Tools hire and delivery: $90
