Nakato lives with cerebral palsy. The occupational therapist at the Dar es Salaam Mobility Clinic has assessed her and recommended a communication tablet with eye tracking. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $850.
Her current equipment is 10 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined her to home for 7 weeks.
With the right equipment Nakato could join the school sports day. It would change everyday life for the whole family.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $850 goes:
• Fitting and training sessions: $20
• Delivery and set-up: $10
• communication tablet with eye tracking: $820

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Nakato.
Sure. The biggest one is fitting and training sessions, $20. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Thanks for asking.
