A cochlear implant processor upgrade for Uma: help me move freely
Uma needs a cochlear implant processor upgrade that the health system won't fund; the cost is $100.
🇮🇳 India900 views
I live with cerebral palsy. My occupational therapist at the Aurangabad Rehabilitation Centre has assessed me and recommended a cochlear implant processor upgrade. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $100.
My current equipment is 9 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 8 weeks.
With the right equipment I could attend work interviews. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered.
Where the $100 goes:
• Delivery and set-up: $15
• First-year servicing plan: $50
• Fitting and training sessions: $35
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Thinking of you, Uma. Hope the doctors have good news. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Love from Yonkers
Sending strength. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. Sent it to 26 people at work. All the best!
