I coordinate donations at Acacia Refugee Centre in Cairo. Every year around this time we hear from families who have nothing warm for their children, and this year demand has more than doubled. We're collecting clean, gently used or new coats, boots, hats, gloves and scarves in sizes 4-12. If you're in Cairo, we can arrange a pick-up or you can drop things at Acacia Refugee Centre on Saturday between 11am and 2pm. If you're elsewhere, you may offer to sponsor a coat through a local shop - message in the comments and we can coordinate. Items go to families directly and the rest to the Acacia Refugee Centre clothing bank, which is open to everyone. Thanks for being kind about this.

  • stay strong. Your post was clear and honest. Thinking of Cairo

    • Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Greetings from Surrey.

      • you're not alone. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. All the best.
