I've coached chess at Los Angeles Sports Club since 2010. Most of my players were between 12 and 16, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
My best seasons were the ones we lost most games and still showed up every Tuesday.
More about Zoe
I still keep the team photo from our best season on the wall.
What gifts mean to Zoe: I'll put any gifts toward a small fund so no child misses a match because of money.
