I taught materials science at Lille Institute of Technology from 1978 to 1991, and supervised 42 dissertations along the way.
I'm happiest when a student comes to office hours with a question that makes me rethink something I've said for years. I make terrible puns.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.
More about Yves
Some of my favorite days were field trips that went spectacularly wrong.
What gifts mean to Yves: I'd put a gift toward a student bursary.
