I've spent 21 years as a lecturer in anthropology at Eastgate State University in Johannesburg. I loved the lecture hall and loved office hours even more.
I'm happiest when a student comes to office hours with a question that makes me rethink something I've said for years. I bake for the whole street at New Year.

What gifts mean to Yusuf: I'd put a gift toward a student bursary.
