Yasemin Ayşe Avcı
Retired modern history lecturer
- 🇹🇷 Istanbul, Istanbul, Türkiye
- Istanbul University
- 1978 to 2007
- English, Turkish
I taught modern history at Istanbul University from 1978 to 2007, and supervised 21 dissertations along the way.
I'm happiest when a student comes to office hours with a question that makes me rethink something I've said for years. I paint watercolors of whatever is outside the window.
Hearing from old faces is the best part of my week.
More about Yasemin
If you wrote a dissertation with me, I probably still have a copy on my shelf.
What gifts mean to Yasemin: I'd put a gift toward a student bursary.
