I coached baseball at Nairobi Sports Club from 1980 to 2017. Most of my players were between 8 and 16, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I always had a bag of oranges in my drawer.
More about Winnie
Some of my former players now coach their own teams, which is the best thank-you I could ask for.
What gifts mean to Winnie: I'll put any gifts toward a small fund so no child misses a match because of money.
