Willem D. Fortuin
Master of bicycle repair, now teaching apprentices
- 🇿🇦 Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa
- Since 1997
- English, Afrikaans
I've worked in bicycle repair since 1997. I learned from my grandfather and passed what I could on to 1,220 apprentices.
I can still tell good work from rushed work from across the street. I walk the dog by the river.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.
More about Willem
Some of my old apprentices now run their own shops. I couldn't be prouder.
Crafts and trades
What gifts mean to Willem: I'd put gifts toward a new set of tools for the next apprentice.
