I've been a nurse for 44 years, most of them in home care at Acacia Children's Hospital in Newcastle upon Tyne. Night shifts taught me patience, and patients taught me everything else.
The thing I'm proudest of is that families usually remember my name. I'm always reading two books at once.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.
