Wasantha Jayawardena
16 years teaching home economics in Colombo
- 🇱🇰 Colombo, Western, Sri Lanka
- Since 1999
- English, Sinhala, French
I came to teaching late, after working as a night-shift cleaner, and 27 years later I still can't imagine doing anything else.
I've run the reading group after school and some of my proudest moments happened there. I run most mornings.
More about Wasantha
The students I remember best weren't always the top of the class. They were the ones who asked "why?" when nobody else did.

What gifts mean to Wasantha: If you do send something, I'll put it toward a small scholarship for a student who needs it.
