I taught statistics at Sunrise Grammar School in Dar es Salaam from 1981 to 2017. Most days I taught Year 7, and I kept a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
Over the years I had 1,370 students pass through my room. A few of them became teachers themselves, which still makes me smile.
