I taught geography at Hillcrest Academy in Los Angeles from 1980 to 2002. Most days I taught the youngest children, and I always had a bag of oranges in my drawer. Outside the classroom I garden badly but happily. Inside it, I always had a bag of oranges in my drawer.

What gifts mean to Walker: Honestly the messages mean more, but a gift would help me buy supplies for my new classroom.
