Usman Godwin Coker
Master of painting and decorating, now teaching apprentices
- 🇳🇬 Gwagwalada, Abuja FCT, Nigeria
- Gwagwalada Repairs
- 1999 to 2013
- English, Yoruba
My trade is painting and decorating. I opened my own shop in 1999 in Gwagwalada and I'm still there most mornings.
Apprentices come in nervous and leave proud. That's my favorite part. I'm usually the first one in and the last to leave.
More about Usman
Some of my old apprentices now run their own shops. I couldn't be prouder.
Crafts and trades
What gifts mean to Usman: I'd put gifts toward a new set of tools for the next apprentice.
