Upendo Nyambura Kessy

Children's librarian in Mbale

  • 🇺🇬 Mbale, Eastern Region, Uganda
  • Northside Library
  • 1993 to 2014
  • English, Swahili
For 21 years I looked after the shelves, the card catalog and the regulars at Northside Library. I ran the Saturday reading group and the summer reading challenge. I bake for the whole street at New Year. I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.

What gifts mean to Upendo: I'd put a gift toward a reading corner at the nearby school.
