I've been a nurse for 38 years, most of them in palliative care at Pietermaritzburg Regional Medical Center in Pietermaritzburg. Night shifts taught me patience, and patients taught me everything else.
The thing I'm proudest of is that families usually remember my name. I'm always reading two books at once.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.
