I've worked in auto repair from 1998 to 2006. I learned from my father and passed what I could on to 480 apprentices.
I can still tell good work from rushed work from across the street. I make terrible puns.
More about Umar
Some of my old apprentices now run their own shops. I couldn't be prouder.
Crafts and trades
What gifts mean to Umar: I'd put gifts toward a new set of tools for the next apprentice.
