Tharun C. Chettiar

Self-taught woodcarving artist

  • 🇮🇳 Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India
  • Brookfield Art Collective
  • Since 2005
  • English, Malayalam
I work mostly in woodcarving, sometimes embroidery. My first show was in 2005 at Brookfield Art Collective, and nobody came except my family and one confused dog. Most of my work is inspired by folk tales I grew up with. I make terrible puns. I'm still learning every day.

What gifts mean to Tharun: I'd put a gift toward a kiln repair. It's been a long time coming.
