I spent 17 years as a lecturer in marine biology at Riverside Institute of Technology in San Diego. I loved the lecture hall and loved office hours even more.
I'm happiest when a student comes to office hours with a question that makes me rethink something I've said for years. I garden badly but happily.
More about Sophie
I retired from full-time teaching but still mentor a few students a year.
What gifts mean to Sophie: Gifts will go to a small travel fund for students presenting their first paper.
