My subject is materials science, and for 13 years I got to share it with undergraduates at Riverside Institute of Technology.
I'm happiest when a student comes to office hours with a question that makes me rethink something I've said for years. I'm always reading two books at once.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.
What gifts mean to Sophie: Gifts will go to a small travel fund for students presenting their first paper.
