Sofía B. Álvarez
Helping people break into engineering
- 🇺🇸 New Orleans, Louisiana, United States
- New Orleans Association
- 1999 to 2011
- English, Spanish
I started mentoring after a colleague did the same for me. Since then I've worked with 670 people through New Orleans Association.
I don't give advice so much as ask questions until the answer shows up. I fix old bicycles.
More about Sofía
Some of my mentees now mentor others. That's how it's meant to work.
Areas of mentoring
What gifts mean to Sofía: I'd put gifts toward travel for in-person sessions with students.
