I taught mathematics at Eastgate Academy in Jakarta Selatan from 1991 to 2025. Most days I taught the final-year class, and I kept a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
My classroom was always a bit noisy, a bit untidy and usually full of people who came for the biscuits.
