I teach physical education at Oakwood Boys' School in Bakersfield since 1983. Most days I teach the youngest children, and I keep a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
Over the years I've had 2,150 students pass through my room. A few of them became teachers themselves, which still makes me smile.
I'm still learning every day.
More about Silas
If you were in my the youngest children class, you probably remember the morning the power went out and we had class in the yard.

What gifts mean to Silas: A gift would go toward books and supplies for the students I still tutor.
